Frequently Asked Questions

Unsure about how to send us your document, what an Apostille is or the world of Certified Translations generally? We’ve tried to answer your questions below!

Do I need to show you my documents?

No. We only need to see copies of the originals and this is all done electronically. In most cases, a good quality picture or scan will do – preferably with no shadows and in which all four corners of the page are visible.

Can I come into your office?

We are a 100% online business and as such don’t have an office that is open to the public. If we need to discuss anything with yourself, please ask us to call you and we will give you a ring. By being online it means we can provide cheaper and quicker service!

I’m concerned about sending my documents via email…

Only the translators listed on our website will have access to and will translate your documents. Unlike cheaper competitors who will send your documents to unknown translators – only the Albanian Translations team will have access to yours.

How can I apply for an Albanian passport?

To apply for an Albanian passport, you must first be a citizen of Albania. You can have a read of our guide here for further information on how to obtain Albanian citizenship. Once you’re a citizen, you can then apply for a passport through the Albanian Embassy.

What is an Apostille Stamp?

An Apostille Stamp is a special stamp issued by a government which confirms that the contents in a document are true and that the document has not been tampered with. When submitting foreign documents, it is often a requirement that the original be apostilled so that the receiving party knows the contents are true and correct.

Do I need an Apostille?

Wherever you are submitting your document will tell you if an apostille stamp is required or not. If you are submitting an Australian birth or marriage certificate to the Albanian Embassy then you will need an apostille stamp and both the certificate and the stamp will need to be translated into Albanian.

Can you translate my documents for the Albanian Embassy?

Absolutely! We translate documents for the Albanian Embassy in Australia all the time and our NAATI stamps and certifications are accepted. If you are taking documents with you overseas to Albania and Kosovo – just let us know!

What is a Certified Translation?

A certified translation is a special translation required by authorities prior to accepting any translated documents. Only a ‘Certified Translator’ who has been issued a stamp is able to translate, stamp, sign and then provide a statement that the translation is correct and accurate.

Who can provide a certified translation?

In Australia, only translators with NAATI credentials are able to provide a certified translation. These credentials are issued to individual translators and the team at Albanian translations are all NAATI certified translators.

I speak Albanian, can I do the translation myself?

Unfortunately not, as government departments will only accept translations done by a NAATI certified translator. This ensures that your document is being translated by a professional obliged to follow ethical and other guidelines whilst ensuring language skills and transfer competency.

How do I become a Albanian translator?

In Australia almost all translators are required to have NAATI Certification. All translators are required to have extensive training in ethics, cultural and professional awareness and of course pass language proficiency exams. If you’d like to find out more, visit the NAATI website via this link.

What is the difference between a translator and an interpreter?

Although they are often confused translators and interpreters are two similar yet different professions. Interpreters convey the spoken word from one language to another such as in court or a press conference, whereas a translator translates written words between languages such as a document or a book.
